Fans have waited a long time to see the conclusion of the hit supernatural series. After surviving cancellation and then resurrection by Netflix, Lucifer has had a great run but viewers will surely be upset to see it come to an end. Showrunner Ildy Modrovich penned a heartbreaking tribute to the cast and crew as she prepared to say goodbye to Lucifer for good.

The ending of season five saw the shocking death of Dan Espinoza (played by Kevin Alejandro), as well as Lucifer becoming the new God after his father (Dennis Haysbert) retired.

After season six was released, Modrovich posted a photo of her and star Tom Ellis in Hawaiian leis.

She captioned the photo: “I know a lot of you have mixed emotions right now. Me too.

“I’m so excited for you to see #LuciferSeason6 and so grateful for this beautiful ride,” she continued.

“But [I’m] so sad to see it end. That said, I do have TONS of BTS to share after we air.

“So we can say goodbye together. Love u #Lucifamily [heart and devil emoji].”

Upset fans were quick to respond to her post, with one writing: “Omg.. thank you so much Ildy for giving us this incredible show.. really gonna miss you all so damn hard.” (sic)

“Thanks for the ride, for bringing this amazing show into my life. Lucifer means so much to us,” another fan wrote.

Chloe Decker star Lauren German also posted an emotional farewell on Instagram ahead of the final season.

She said: “As we close this journey, I’d like to thank you fans for enjoying our show and for rallying for us since the start.

“It’s a sweet thing you know. You’re loving. Be well and love one another. Many thanks.”

Lesley-Ann Brandt, who portrays Mazikeen posted a behind-the-scenes photo of her kissing Inbar Lavi’s Eve.

Brandt stated: “Took 6 years, but I finally got to recreate the image from the comic book that made me fall in love with Mazikeen.”

Viewers will soon see how the final episodes will unfold and there are sure to be many shocks in store, as well as dramatic revelations for the characters.

Speaking to Assignment X recently, Dan star Alejandro discussed how his relationship with Lucifer and Amenadiel (DB Woodside) has changed since finding out that Lucifer was actually the devil.

The star detailed a “dynamic shift” will take place in the final season.

He explained: “Well, it took Dan a minute to even comprehend what was going on.

“But with Amenadiel, I think it brought them closer together after Dan was able to wrap his head around it.”

Alejandro continued: “And with Lucifer, I think all the way around, Dan’s relationships with all the characters got a little bit stronger throughout the season.

“I think that there’s still that dance there with Lucifer, but there’s just a little bit of trepidation because he knows that he’s the Devil, and it could go wrong.”

Lucifer season six will be released on Friday, September 10 on Netflix.
