Neighbours fans tormented by soap’s poisonous kangaroo pie storyline

Fans of Australian soap Neighbours are keen to see a resolution to the ongoing deadly pie storyline, which will leave Bea Nilsson (Bonnie Anderson) fighting for her life.

Roxy’s kangaroo pie, which was made using wild mushrooms outside the Tram, is up for Kyle’s "Best Dish of Erinsborough" award – but it secretly contains poison.

She didn’t know she was adding deadly death cap mushrooms to the gravy.

The pie storyline is set to come to a head this week, with councillor and judge Jacinta Hay (Maurial Spearim) briefly falling ill after tucking into a slice.

But it’s Bea who’s about to suffer the most, collapsing and ending up in hospital after inhaling an entire pie.

Fans of the show took to Twitter to vent their frustrations.

One viewer tweeted: “Neighbours have spent longer on this pie storyline than on Harlow’s kidnappings.”

Another commented: “Can someone eat this pie already?"

Someone else quoted Kyle from a recent episode: “‘I never want to hear the words mushroom gravy or roo pies ever again’. I hear you, Kyle."

Someone else saw the irony in the situation as two stories combined, with Levi struggling to build a billy cart, adding: “You thought it could never happen, but Neighbours two biggest storylines Child’s Go Kart and Pies finally combined! Unmissable drama!”

The suspense when Ned almost took a bite proved too much for one fan, who said: “No, not Ned! Give the pie to Mackenzie, Aaron, David or Harlow”.

But this didn’t sit right with everyone, as one fan wondered: “What did Ned do with the roo pie? Just sit there cutting it up if he didn’t eat any?”

It’s still unclear whether Roxy and Kyle will confess to the mishap.

The ongoing pie saga airs in the UK on Thursday, February 18 and Friday, February 19 on Channel 5.
