Nick Knowles incurred wrath of I’m A Celebrity bosses after knife incident

Anne Hegert has revealed that Nick Knowles incurred the wrath of I’m A Celebrity bosses after a dangerous incident with a knife.

The Governess says the DIY SOS presenter is going so stir crazy from boredom he put the camp knives into the fire and was reprimanded by bosses for it.

Anne confessed she was called into the Bush Telegraph over concerns for Nick’s wellbeing in camp.

He has also been ripping up the sleeping bags of the contestants who leave to make rope to dry people’s clothes on.

On Nick she said: "He was absolutely stricken when he was made camp leader.

"Nick gets bored. He has to be doing things. And he had been the one going down getting the logs, collecting water and bringing that back in a big sack. He suddenly wasn’t allowed to do all of that.

"He had been doing the cooking. He’s the best chef in the camp and he wasn’t allowed to do that anymore.

"There was one time I was called to the Bush Telegraph and they said ‘we’re a little worried about Nick, he’s been sticking knives in the fire.

"I said he’s been doing that, firstly because he’s worked out a brilliant way of getting the candlegrease off John’s gilet. The second reason is because he’s bored and you should allow him to do some stuff."

Anne explained that Nick has been using his survival skills to make life easier in camp.

The wannabe pop sensation has been destroying ex-campmates sleeping bags to use to hang washing.

"Nick could be the new Bear Grylls absolutely, he is so good at it," said Anne.

"After Rita left he got hold of her sleeping bag liner and took the knife and cut it up into strips. Then he would tie two strips together and start braiding it to make rope.

"And he would make all these ropes, really good ropes, the kind of tiebacks you would buy in John Lewis, and he made all these ropes and turned them into a sort of lattice to hang things over the fire to dry things.”

Anne hopes Nick will win but said she was aware the bookmakers’ favourite was Harry.

But she admitted it was a relief for her to be finally out, having expected to be evicted earlier.

She said: “It’s a relief to be out and it’s so lovely to have had a hot shower with my own toiletries and wear something clean that hasn’t been washed in the creek.

“The issues for me were the massive physical discomfort and the hunger. I’m not really designed for the outdoor life and I’m not really an outdoorsy person.

“Just things like trying to take my bra off and put it on was tough – I mean I have really enormous knockers.

“I felt sort of ambushed sometimes by some things. too By trials that suddenly happened late in the evening and by not knowing when food was going to come and what we were going to have to do.”

Anne said she would be writing a letter to an 11-year-old autistic child who appeared on This Morning having been inspired by her appearance on I’m A Celebrity.

But she stopped short of saying she wanting to become a figurehead for austism in the UK.

She added: "I am sort of conflicted a bit. On the one hand I would like to raise awareness and I would like people to be aware of what Autistic people need and what we can do, I have learned more about what I can do. But at the same time I don’t want to be the poster girl.

"I didn’t raise the subject in camp until someone asked me about it. I was more than happy to talk about it by I didn’t want to be the one to go in there going ‘oh I wish you to know I have this interesting condition and you all have to accommodate it’."

I’m A Celebrity airs tonight on ITV at 9pm
