PAW Patrol is not cancelled despite White House press secretary statement

Nickelodeon has had to reassure viewers that PAW Patrol is still airing after a statement from the White House press secretary suggested it had been cancelled.

So it turns out 2020 can get weirder, after all.

A tweet from the show’s Twitter account reassured viewers: ‘No need to worry. PAW Patrol is not canceled.’

Viewers of the beloved cartoon were left concerned after White House press secretary Kaleigh McEnany spoke out on cancel culture, naming the cartoon as an example of a show that had been ‘cancelled’.

She is thought to have said during a press briefing with reporters that Donald Trump ‘is also appalled by cancel culture, and cancel culture specifically as it pertains to cops.

‘We saw a few weeks ago that PAW Patrol, a cartoon show about cops, was cancelled,’ she said, according to Deadline. ‘The show Cops was cancelled. Live PD was cancelled. Lego halted the sales of their Lego City police station.’

Fans were thrilled to see the show still up and running – and a little baffled by the entire situation.

‘Amazing times we live in when the verified twitter account of a bunch of cartoon dogs has to fact check the white house,’ one pointed out, while another said: ‘Every Person, Woman, Man, Camera can rest easy that Paw Patrol is still on TV.’

The Canadian cartoon follows a group of pups who have dubbed themselves the PAW Patrol and work to protect the community of Adventure Bay.

They each have their own roles – while one is a police officer, another works as a firefighter, and another as a pilot. As you do.

The Nickelodeon show previously tweeted a message in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, writing back in June: ‘In solidarity of #amplifymelanatedvoices we will be muting our content until June 7th to give access for Black voices to be heard so we can continue to listen and further our learning. #amplifyblackvoices.’

Cops and Live PD were both cancelled earlier this year, following criticism of how they portrayed law enforcement.
