Piers Morgan says he'll FIGHT Nicola Adams after she appeals for celebrity boxing opponent

PIERS Morgan said he'll fight former boxing world champion Nicola Adams after she appealed for a celebrity opponent.

Double Olympic gold medallist Nicola, 38, had ruled out Piers as an option, despite the clamour from fans for her to take him on, as she wanted to face a female.

But controversial broadcaster Piers, 56, is seemingly a glutton for punishment as he responded by throwing his name into the ring.

Nicola, whose fighting name is The Lioness, wrote: "Which famous person would you like to see me fight ??? I know you want Piers Morgan but it needs to be a female [laughing emoji]."

It prompted mouthy Piers to reply: "I'm currently identifying as female… bring it on."

Despite his considerable height and weight advantage, fans don't fancy his chances against the younger more athletic Nicola should they go toe to toe.

One commented: "Sorry but Nicola in the third lol."

Another wrote: "You would not stand a chance against Nicola Adams ( not many would :)."

A third said: "She'd wipe the floor with you. You wouldn't lady two rounds mate!"

Piers would no doubt hold his own trash-talking in the build up thanks to his bruising clashes on Good Morning Britain with the country's political heavyweights.

However, he'd surely come off second best in the ring. His last brawl came in 2004 when he was famously punched by Jeremy Clarkson at the Press Awards.

Meanwhile Nicola's glittering boxing career saw her win gold in both the London and Rio Olympics, and at the World and European Championships and Commonwealth Games.

She went on to turn professional where she picked up the WBO Flyweight title before retiring due to an eye injury.
