Power Book 2 fans left ecstatic as Tommy Egan returns in action-packed finale: ‘No words’

The exciting new spin-off to Starz’ popular crime drama capped off its thrilling first season tonight with an extra special guest appearance. As Tariq St. Patrick continues his rise to dominance in Power Book II: Ghost, Tommy Egan finally made himself known when he uncovered a plan to land him behind bars.

The surprise appearance of Tommy Egan (played by Joseph Sikora) thrilled Power fans this weekend after they spent the entire season speculating his return.

In episode ten, Heart of Darkness, Tommy went head-to-head with Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) when he discovered he was being pinned for Ghost’s (Omari Hardwick) murder.

Although Book II’s first season has been no picnic so far, the chaos reached its tipping point when Tommy went after Tariq’s mother Tasha (Naturi Naughton) to unleash his revenge.

However, despite Tariq’s plan to appease Tommy by faking his death pulled through, Tasha’s life was still in danger and was only saved when her son called witness protection to pull her out of harm’s way.

Power star Joseph Sikora confirmed Tommy and Tariq won’t be bumping into each other again after this, but it was only natural he made one last appearance to stir up trouble.

Thankfully, the fan favourite’s time on the series has by no means come to an end, as Sikora is set to star in his own spin-off, Power Book IV: Force.

Before the episode premiered on Starz, the finale was available to stream on Starzplay, giving Power’s most eager fans an early chance to check out the end of the season.

After Tommy’s explosive guest appearance was revealed, along with a whole episode’s worth of twists and turns, fans quickly went online to voice their reactions.

One fan praised Tommy and Tariq’s final confrontation and wrote: “I have no words for episode 10. It was just f*****g brilliant, 10/10 episode.

“I don’t care what anyone says, even f*****g Tommy came back and Tariq has REALLY accepted he’s a monster.”

Compared to previous instalments, responses to showrunner Courtney Kemp’s first follow-up to her breakthrough series were mixed during earlier episodes.

Now the spin-off has wrapped up its first ten episodes, with another season on the way, fans are now much more confident the new spin-offs can live up to Power’s unlimited potential.

Other fans lamented the fact Tommy won’t be sticking around to take on Monet Tejada (Mary J. Blige), whose drug empire has been slowly gaining traction throughout the series.

On Twitter, one viewer wrote: “I just want Tommy to rain bodies down on Monet’s crew.

“I want them to stop acting like Tommy wasn’t damn near running New York at one time.”

Some fans admitted they weren’t convinced by Monet’s power play when she pulled a gun on Tommy, not knowing about his untouchable reputation in New York’s drug scene.

Meanwhile, other parts of the audience celebrated the death of Jabari Reynolds (Justin Marcel McManus), after Tariq’s shady Professor tried to blackmail him after uncovering his drug operation.

Another fan commented: “I love the approving look Cane gave after Tariq shot Professor Jabari.”

While Tasha won’t be pleased her son is abandoning her studies to follow in his father’s footsteps, Tariq has fully come into his own after the first season of Book II.
