It’s been confirmed Charlie De Melo will soon be leaving his role as Imran Habeeb in Coronation Street, but do you remember when he was in EastEnders?
In 2017, Charlie played the role of Jaz Jones in the BBC One soap, a police officer involved in the Taylor family storyline that saw Louise Mitchell fearful Keegan Baker (Zack Morris) had raped her after having her drink spiked.
Towards the end of 2017, it was announced Charlie had swapped EastEnders for Coronation Street to play Rana Habeeb’s brother.
Last night, it was announced Charlie will say goodbye to Imran after playing him for five years.
A source told The Sun: ‘Charlie’s loved his time on the soap but the time is right to try new things.
‘He’s hugely talented and very ambitious and wants to see what else is out there. He will always cherish his time in Weatherfield but for now it’s goodbye.’
His spectacular exit is set to form part of the unexpected storyline producer Iain MacLeod divulged for the character.
At the time, the show boss told Metro.co.uk: ‘It threatens to destroy Imran and Toyah’s relationship as Toyah does not know the full truth. It tests the bounds of Toyah’s forgiveness to the max.
‘Imran is forced to look in a mirror and consider himself and the man who he is – he could go to the dark side.’
‘It’s a big buried bomb just waiting for people to end up in the blast radius. It won’t be for months but the way it happens is very surprising.
Charlie films his scenes in coming weeks, with the ending airing later in summer.
