Richard Madeley and his wife Judy Finnigan recently enjoyed a break over the summer. However, Good Morning Britain presenter Richard has now revealed they clashed due to his preparation. His co-host Susanna Reid quizzed him about his break on Monday’s episode of the ITV show.
When Susanna asked her co-star about his holiday, Richard confessed: “It didn’t get off to the best of starts.”
The couple headed to France for a break, but Judy was not impressed when her husband made a packing blunder.
The presenter explained: “We basically, Judy and I drove to France, and I was responsible for packing the car.
“I drive the car, so I pack the car. And that meant being responsible for packing my wife’s clothes,” Richard revealed.
“Oh Judy. Oh Judy,” Susanna remarked, as her co-star revealed how his trip went awry.
Richard continued: “Judy said to me the morning that we left, ‘Now there are two lots of clothes on hangers in the spare room, you pack them both.’
“I said ‘sure.’ We get to France and Judy says, ‘Where’s that jacket I wanted to change into? Where’s that skirt?’
“I’d left half of her clothes in London. Half of them,” he confessed.
Susanna sighed at Richard’s blunder and said: “Of course you had.”
He continued: “She’d bought them specially. Can you imagine?
“I think I would have been in less trouble if I’d had an affair!” he added.
Susanna burst out laughing at Richard’s honest remark.
“You just don’t leave your wife’s summer clothes. She’d bought them specially,” Richard commented.
“But anyway, thank God for Fedex,” he added, revealing his two children had packed up the clothes and sent them via courier.
He confessed: “She basically didn’t speak to me for the first two days!”
Richard went on to ask his co-star Susanna how her summer holiday had been.
She replied: “It was very nice, I managed to remember all of my clothes!”
Meanwhile, GMB viewers weren’t too happy to see Richard presenting, with some claiming they’d “switched off” the channel.
One viewer wrote on Twitter: “Not Richard Madeley! Turning off! #gmb.”
Another agreed: “Good morning #GMB oh god is it Richard Madeley!!! – cheerio.”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
