Ricky Gervais has been trying to keep spirits high for people self-isolating amid the coronavirus pandemic by sharing live videos and has offered to do so ‘once a day’ should we so desire.
The Office actor and comedian went live on Instagram on Tuesday and later uploaded a clip to Twitter in an attempt to be ‘this era’s Vera Lynn’ and to keep people entertained during the doom and gloom.
‘I wanted to do something for people stuck at home, self-isolating and all that,’ Ricky explained via Periscope. ‘I know it can be a bit depressing and I wanted to boost morale really. That’s sort of my job, but I didn’t know how.
‘People keep asking me to bring After Life forward, but I can’t do that, it’s not up to me and they’ve got to translate it into different languages, so I went on Instagram live. I eventually worked out how to do that.’
‘I’ll do this once a day if you like it,’ Ricky then offered.
Um, yes please, perhaps until After Life season two comes out at the end of next month?
In addition, he tweeted: ‘Just did a little test with Instagram live. I’m drunk & old but I got it to work.
‘If people enjoyed it I’ll do one every day for all you lovely people stuck at home. Stay safe. Look forward to brighter days.’
What a champ.
Celebs have been hard at work trying to keep our spirits high during the outbreak of coronavirus.
Last night, John Legend performed a collection of songs on his Instagram live, following the likes of Coldplay’s Chris Martin who gave a free concert from his living room.
