Mary, 39, has become one of the standout stars of Selling Sunset and she is set to feature in the upcoming season of the Netflix hit show. The mother-of-one will return alongside the likes of Chrishell Stause, 39, Christine Quinn, 31, Amanza Smith, 43, Heather Young, 33, and Maya Vander, 37. However, although they’ve been filming the new episodes, the real estate agents have managed to have some secret conversations not picked up on the microphones. Mary has exclusively revealed how the cast members have done this and got away with it.
Discussing being able to film in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, Mary said: “It feels great to be back with all of the cast members I’m super close to.
“We’ve all become closer and just getting back into the groove after being restricted for so long but I think it’s easier now.
“It has two sides because of everything that has happened [in previous seasons] with some cast members, it’s more difficult.
“But overall, I think it’s just easier and more enjoyable. We know what to expect and we’ve got the hang of it.
“We’re kind of professionals now with filming. Before, we didn’t really know what was going on,” the real estate agent explained.
“We get our microphones and we had to make sure if a camera was there…I wasn’t used to being in front of the camera so I would get so nervous,” Mary continued.
“Now you just go in and you forget they are there most of the time and we forget we’ve got our microphones on.”
Revealing how they have the secret conversations when the camera is on them, the real estate agent added she and her co-stars tell each other “to cover” their microphones.
“We do that if we want to say something that is a secret in-between scenes,” the mother-of-one stipulated.
We forget we’ve got our microphones on
“I think we’re just getting more used to it and getting into the groove and it’s just so fun, it’s an experience we never thought would be possible,” Mary continued.
“It wasn’t something we were looking for and we’re all just super blessed to have the opportunities that have come along with it.”
“And we get to share this experience with our closest friends so I’m kind of living in a dream world right now,” the real estate agent added.
Although Mary has worked with some of the girls for more than one season, she will also be seen interacting with a pair of newcomers.
Ahead of season four’s release in the not-so-distant future, the show officially announced two more cast members were joining the team.
Entrepreneur Emma Hernan will be making her introduction alongside Mexican-American actress Vanessa Villela.
It is thought these two cast members will be sticking around for season five, which has already been commissioned by Netflix.
Teasing more of what’s to come from the upcoming episodes, Mary added: “What you’re going to see is some of the things that have happened between the cast members.”
“We have to address [the tensions] because it has affected our lives, we’re not characters on a show,” Mary declared.
“When people say things to us on the show that hit below the belt, you realise our clients, our family and friends are watching this.
“That affects our reputation and our real lives and our emotions so it’s not a scripted show where you play an evil villain.
“You’re not a character that can snap out of it. It’s us and it carries through to other aspects of our lives; it’s a very unique experience.”
Selling Sunset seasons 1-3 are available to stream on Netflix.
