Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris) was last seen in EastEnders in October, when she exited the Square to live with her brother as she struggled under the pressure of carrying a baby for Stuart (Ricky Champ) and Rainie (Tanya Franks).
She returns to Walford in dramatic fashion in upcoming episodes, when she arrives in the middle of a fraught time for Stuart and Rainie as they’ve just heard that Stuart’s cancer has grown.
When she hears from Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) about Stuart’s cancer, a very heavily pregnant Bernie marches over to the Highways to find out why they didn’t tell her about it themselves – but as she confronts them, her waters break.
As Bernie goes into labour, Rainie is terrified that she’ll change her mind about giving them the baby and lies, telling her that Stuart is beating his cancer.
Karen (Lorraine Stanley) arrives to support her daughter through labour and the baby is born safely. It’s a little boy and Rainie and Stuart are overjoyed. Bernie can see how much they love the baby and she agrees that he’s their son.
But when Rainie feels guilty and tells Bernie the truth about Stuart’s cancer, will she change her mind?
