Strictly’s Oti Mabusi convinced The Masked Singer’s Blob is Lenny Henry

Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Oti Mabusi has turned detective overnight, believing she's cracked the case when it comes to the identity of The Masked Singer 's Blob.

This year's winner of the BBC dancing competition took to Twitter to blurt out her guess, completely dividing social media fans.

Bill Bailey's pro-dancing partner was utterly convinced that pink and purple character The Blob was no other than funnyman Lenny Henry.

The Blob made their first appearance on Saturday's show, going head-to-head against The Harlequin in a bid to obtain entry to the next round.

Their battle was fierce and even the judges were finding it difficult to call which of the pair would be selected by the Covid-19 bubbled-up studio audience.

It was however The Blob who won over viewers with his soulful Bruno Mars rendition of Uptown Funk.

During the video tape prior to his performance The Blob dropped a lot of clues that sparked a lot of confusion.

They revealed themselves to be spectacles-wearer and there was also a reference to a school that seemed to send Twitter into a complete frenzy, with Oti leading the charge.

Airing her suspicion, she asked her huge following: "Who thinks blob is Lenny Henry? #MaskedSingerUK."

Agreeing fans couldn't wait to swoon in the comments section after their initial reaction had been the same.

One penned: "Yeah his singing voice was totally Lenny Henry."

Another added: "Totally. Definitely sounded like him singing, and he's done enough acting mimicry to disguise his voice whilst talking."

A third said: "Lenny Henry YES! So obvious. I thought he was going to say "Katanga, Katanga my friend" Face with tears of joy #MaskedSingerUK."

However, some fans of the programme were still not whole heartedly convinced that Oti's guess was the correct one as they flocked to provide more food for thought.

One person wrote: "Totally ….. but the clues don't make sense for him. I b***dy love/hate this show its frustratingly addictive . Cheesy but fantastic. Its the only show you need to make notes for when watching x."

Another stated: "My other half is confident in saying Romesh Ranganathan."

A third explained: "I was going to say Lenny Henry, but when they said about Simon Cowell, I reckon it’s Harry Hill. Hear me out. Harry Hill once did a musical based on the X Factor, so he would’ve had to record demos for Simon Cowell. #MaskedSingerUK."

While a forth had other idea for why The Blob was the only motorised contestant on the show, exclaiming: "I think it's Ade Adepitan. It sounded like him. Obviously they hid his wheelchair in the size of the blob."

The Masked Singer UK continues on ITV on Saturday night at 7pm
