Every week on Survivor: Winners at War, fans predict that Adam Klein is going to be voted out. However, he lasted for 23 days before the tribe decided it was time. What happened next, to Jeff Probst’s voting podium, will go down in Survivor history forever. Fans weren’t sure whether to laugh, cry, or applaud.

Did Adam play an immunity idol on ‘Survivor 40: Winners at War’ Episode 9?
In a chaotic tribal council, the 11 remaining contestants whisper extensively until they decide which way to vote. Adam asks the group if they are voting for him. However, no one answers — indicating that they are.
Since he knows he is going to be the one voted out, he walks up to the podium where Jeff Probst is standing. Then he proceeds to pull at the fleur-de-lis that is on the front of the podium.
“Damn. Nothing, huh?” Adam says as he is fiddling with it. “Not anything? Looks like maybe it was something — worth a shot. I don’t know. Maybe that was an idol?”
The rest of the castaways stare at Adam, wide-eyed. Some laugh, but others are genuinely curious if the fleur-de-lis is a hidden immunity idol.
“You want to play this?” Probst asks Adam. “This thing that you can’t get off of the voting podium?” Laughter ensues from everyone.
“If that is an idol,” Probst continues. “It would be historic. The first idol ever, hidden at tribal council, in plain view of all players, selected by you and played for you.”
Probst lets that sink in before saying, “That is not a hidden immunity idol.”
All votes cast for Adam still count, and he is the eleventh person voted out of Survivor: Winners at War.
Fans initial reactions were to laugh at Adam’s attempted immunity idol play
“I can’t believe Adam,” tweeted one fan. “OMG, I have second-hand embarrassment.”
The memes flying around social media of Adam trying to take something off of the voting podium are hysterical.
“Even though I laughed, I don’t begrudge Adam for taking a chance,” tweeted another fan. “He knows the #Survivor producers are sneaky-sneaky. Idols have been in the most unexpected of places before. None of this was unprecedented.”
Fans respect Adam for taking the shot to see if there was an idol at tribal council
“Adam is going to get a lot of shit for trying to play the tribal podium as an idol, but it was absolutely worth a shot,” wrote another fan on Twitter. “Moreover, he was absolute gold this season. Top shelf entertainment. 10/10 would watch again.”
After the initial laughter died down, fans respect the decision Adam made. If that were a real idol, it would have gone down in Survivor history as one of the most epic moves.
“Funny moment, but in all honesty, I don’t blame Adam for trying,” tweeted another fan who respected the decision. “Planting an idol at Tribal is very much something #Survivor would do. Also, Probst clearly egged him on to continue after he was about to stop.”
