This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby was left wiping away the tears as she struggled to contain her emotions in a chat with Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway.

The 40 year old star, who was co-hosting the ITV daytime programme with Phillip Schofield, 59, became upset as she listened to her friend talk about her journey with husband Derek Draper.

Kate, 54, is up for a National Television Award for her harrowing and heartbreaking documentary Finding Derek, which followed her as she struggled to keep the family together and support her husband after he contracted a serious case of Covid-19 in March 2020.

Holly was in awe of the journalist, as she called the mum-of-two “brave” for what she's coped with over the last year.

Derek was put on a ventilator and into an induced coma after he suffered complications from the coronavirus, ending up in hospital for months.

Kate was with her husband all the way, supporting and encouraging him as he finally began his difficult road to recovery, while all the while raising her two teen children Darcey, 15, and Billy, 12.

The chat, which saw Kate talking via video link from Smooth Radio, saw her telling viewers if they don't think Covid exists, they should spend "an hour" in her home.

"You don't want to go through what Derek's gone through, you don't want your children to go through what Billy and Darcey are going through," she said seriously.

"You don't want the worry that his parents are going through. You don't want that in your life.

"And if getting vaccinated makes the symptoms that you get or the effect of Covid on you or someone you love better then it kinda seems a no-brainer to me."

Flashing back to Holly and Phil in the studio, the former wasn't able to speak for the tears as Phillip called Kate "a remarkable woman".

"Sorry Kate," Holly apologised, her voice breaking.

"Aaaw Holly are you crying? I can't see you, please don't cry!" Kate then cut in, as she shared support for her friend. "I don't want to make everybody miserable."

"I know but you've done so well," Holly insisted, using her sleeve once more.

"You're going to make me cry now!" Kate, who recently admitted she was struggling to plan hers and Derek's anniversary, then declared.

It comes as Kate's co-host Ben Shephard, 46, delivered an impassioned plea to his followers to vote for Finding Derek in the NTAs.

Next to a snap of them together on his Instagram and Twitter pages, Ben wrote: "So incredibly proud of my amazing, brilliant, and at times bonkers friend @kategarraway and her family,” the Tipping Point presenter wrote.

“I have lived this story with her and her strength resilience and enduring positivity in the face of such a stark reality never fails to inspire me.

"Her documentary is up for an #NTA along with some other incredibly powerful and important films.

"If you can vote that would be amazing," the presenter added.
