TIME was filmed in a former real-life prison and is the latest drama to air on BBC One – and you can visit it for ghost hunting!
Created by Jimmy McGovern, the three-part series airs this weekend and is centered around two main characters.
Those are Mark Cobden, who is a new inmate, consumed by the guilt of his crime and finds himself overwhelmed in the prison as he's way out of his depth, and Eric McNally, a good-guy security guard who does his absolute best to protect the prisoners.
Most of the show takes place inside the fictional prison, however, it is actually filmed in a former real-life prison that is now open for ghost hunts at night.
Where is Time filmed?
Time is filmed from a building which was once HM Prison Shrewsbury before it was decommissioned in March 2013.
During a press event, director Lewis Arnold said the location "had such a feeling and energy".
He said: "The wings and the cells… The majority of the prison stuff – the key stuff, the landings – were shot in in a disused prison, which ironically, myself and the executive producer shot in five years ago, when it first closed, just before it was meant to be turned into student accommodation that never happened, luckily for us, so we were still able to use it now.
“But yeah, we looked at so many different prisons as well. This… prison just had such a feeling and energy, especially when [our set designer] got in and put a visual stamp on it as well. And it’s been left that way.”
The prison was a Category B/C men's prison in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England, and has a haunting history.
As one of the oldest prisons in Britain it has quite the story of executions, death and sometimes barbaric treatment of inmates during the Victorian times.
According to Haunted Happenings, ghosts who were executed on the property and buried in it still "bang on the corridors".
The director of Time also revealed that the filming location of Eric's home is also in Liverpool.
It stars Sean Bean, from Game of Thrones, as Mark, and Stephen Graham, from Line of Duty, as Eric.
Time airs weekly on BBC One, starting at 9pm on Sunday 6 June.
