Baby on motorbike decapitated after ‘head scarf gets trapped in wheel’

A baby girl being carried on a motorbike has been decapitated after her head scarf reportedly became entangled in a wheel.

Police in the Philippines are investigating after the one-year-old’s head was apparently torn off in the horrific accident.

The youngster was being carried by her gran at the time of the tragedy in Northern Samar, according to local media.

The pair were riding on a motorcycle, known as a habal-habal, in Laoang on Sunday, The Filipino Times reports.

They are said to have been joined by another passenger from the town of Palapag, going to Catarman.

But during the ride, the scarf covering the baby’s head reportedly unravelled and became stuck in one of the bike’s wheels.

The child was decapitated in front of her shocked grandmother.

An investigation into the incident is now under way.

It is thought that the youngster had been covered with the scarf in a bid to protect her from the hot sun.

The practice of adults moving many children on motorbikes is commonplace in the country.
