The man from Edmonton, Alberta, shared his good deed on his Twitter profile.
The post has since attracted the attention of social media users, who shared and commented it in big numbers.
One person wrote: "Not all heroes wear capes, just name tags."
Another Twitter user commented: "Are you working at a bank now and if so which branch?"
Some people asked Cody whether anyone ever thanked him for his kindness.
"Did any customer notice and actually thank you for it?" Kevin Jones ansked.
"The location was mostly drive-thru so not that I can remember, but I’d like to imagine they went home, saw the extra nug, and smiled a little," Cody replied.
One user said: "Guarantee you made someone's day at least once a day each day you worked over those years. Nicely done."
Since Cody published the tweet yesterday, it has been liked 776,000 times and it got 67,000 retweets.
