An Australian surfer is being hailed as a hero for pulling a woman from rough waters off the coast of Hawaii.

Surfer Mikey Wright moved quickly from cameraman to lifeguard in a video he posted to Instagram of the rescue. The footage shows a woman struggling in the surf, as Wright apparently filmed her from a beachside patio in Oahu.

Other swimmers try unsuccessfully to reach the woman, prompting White to declare she would “need to get saved.”

He then hands over the cellphone camera to a friend, who continues filming as White runs into the surf and drags the woman to dry sand.

“Hold my beer,” Wright captioned the video, which had racked up more than 100,000 “likes” and lots of celebratory comments on social media a day after Wright posted it on Friday.

“Who needs a cape when you have a mullet,” surfer Jessi Miley-Dyer quipped, referring to Wright’s haircut.
