Their rendez-vous comes just hours after Mrs Obama advised the Duchess of Sussex to “take some time” to settle into her new role as a Royal.
In an interview with Good Housekeeping, she said: “Like me, Meghan probably never dreamt that she’d have a life like this, and the pressure you feel – from yourself and from others – can sometimes feel like a lot.
“So my biggest pieces of advice would be to take some time and don’t be in a hurry to do anything.”
Kensington Palace confirmed to the Sun Online that Meghan attended last night's sold-out event in a "private capacity" before the pair enjoyed a "conversation" afterwards.
According to the Evening Standard, the pair's "power meeting" including discussing their shared causes such as boosting girls' education.
A friend told the Standard that Meghan "had a long private audience with Michelle" and said they formed a strong bond – and were "expected to stay in close contact".
Meghan's husband Prince Harry, 34, are known to be good pals with the Obamas after the Prince bonded with Barack at the Invictus Games in 2015.
Since then they have met on a number of occasions, with Harry even interviewing Obama in his role as guest editor of BBC Radio 4's Today programme last year.
Speculation was rife on whether the power presidential couple would get an invite to the Royal Wedding – with fans devastated that they didn't make the cut.
Michelle's advice to Meg, who is expecting her and Harry's first child in the Spring, comes amid reports of a rift between her and sister-in-law Kate.
But today it was revealed that this rift could be healing as it emerged the Sussexes will stay with the Cambridges at their Norfolk home when all the Royals go to Sandringham over the festive period.
Previous reports have hinted at tensions after it was announced the Sussexes will move out of Kensington Palace and relocate to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.
The news comes after a number of negative stories about Meghan which accused her of making Kate Middleton cry and emailing staff at 5am.
