A New Jersey woman has been charged in the 2017 deaths of her two toddlers, authorities announced.
The NYPD’s Warrants Squad arrested Jade Spencer, 33, in Brooklyn on Thursday and charged her with two counts of manslaughter — one for each of her children, police said later that day.
Spencer’s boyfriend, Novell Jordan, discovered Olivia and Micha Gee, ages 2 and 3, respectively, struggling to breath on July 10, 2017, inside her home on Van Cortlandt Park South near Gouverneur Avenue in the Kingsbridge Heights section of the Bronx.
The siblings died just minutes apart at Montefiore Medical Center.
Both children suffered from asthma, which was initially believed to have contributed to theirs deaths, but autopsies later determined the tots died of blunt-force trauma to the torso, authorities said.
Officials later classified their deaths as a double homicide.
Police sources said they do not anticipate any additional arrests related to the deaths.
Spencer, who lives in Bloomfield, New Jersey, was awaiting arraignment in Bronx court on Friday.
