A shocked dog walker out with her friend claims she was looking for her pet when she stumbled across the strange ceremony just off the Hawksworth Wood Trail in Leeds last Friday.
Cops from West Yorkshire Police were called to the scene after a report of "public indecency" in the area, and they've since increased patrols near the woods.
The dog walker, who wished to remain anonymous, told Leeds Live: "I let the dog off for a run and he went to the top of the wood, near a field where kids play and people walk.
"He disappeared and I heard what I thought was shouting so I went to get him as he's a big softy, but I thought he had scared someone.
"It sounded like someone shouting in a different language, but then I saw a lady in her late 30s laid on a white plastic sheet."
The scandalised pet-owner said she initially thought the woman was dead, but as she went closer she saw there was a man with her.
She watched him use his finger to take blood from a dead bird and smear it on the woman's face before they had sex.
And although she managed to find her dog and leave the couple, the anonymous witness says she passed by the same area about ten minutes later to find the couple surrounded by five women chanting.
It was at that point she decided to call the police, as she claims the group were carrying on with their bizarre ritual despite the fact that there were people nearby.
When she checked back later on, she claims the group were dressed in tunics and walking away as if nothing had happened.
Police were called to the woods but no arrests were made.
