Rod Rosenstein offered to wear wire to record Trump, new book claims

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appeared disheveled and spooked while volunteering to wear a wire to record President Trump in a May 2017 meeting, according to a new book.

Rosenstein made the offer to “startled” acting FBI chief Andrew McCabe after bureau boss James Comey’s dismissal, telling McCabe about his plan in an “increasingly disjointed monologue,” James B. Stewart writes in “Deep State: Trump, the FBI and the Rule of Law,” released Tuesday.

Rosenstein also told McCabe he was considering invoking the 25th Amendment to remove the president, claiming he had the support of then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions and then-Director of Homeland Security John Kelly, the book says.
