I’m A Celeb: Scarlette Douglas tearful as she leaves camp
After appearing on last year’s I’m A Celebrity, Scarlette Douglas has revealed she found out she would be starring on the ITV show only two weeks before having to fly out to Australia. The A Place In The Sun star was told she had bagged the iconic show and, before she knew it, she was thrust into the jungle with her fellow campmates.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk at I’m A Celebrity’s sponsor Tombola’s ‘Critter Challenge’ event, the presenter said it was an immediate yes to doing the show when ITV came knocking. She divulged: “That’s one of the shows I’ve always wanted to do, that and Strictly Come Dancing. I said to my agent, ‘If they ever come knocking, tell them I want to do it.’
“But I found out really late, I found out two weeks before that I was even up for it because they were looking for one more person. I think I had the Zoom three weeks before, and then that was it, packing and then off to Australia.”
Scarlette, 36, was joined in the jungle by a whole host of exciting famous faces, including singer Boy George, Coronation Street icon Sue Cleaver and radio host Chris Moyles.
Controversial politician Matt Hancock divided viewers but ended up getting to the final and ending up in third place. Hollyoaks star Owen Warner just missed out on being the winner as he was beaten by former England footballer Jill Scott who was crowned queen of the jungle.

Scarlette revealed she bonded with all of her fellow celebrities, but mananged to carve out one lifelong friendship with a jungle pal.
She expressed: “We all got on well but Babatunde [Aleshe] especially, me and him are really tight now. He’s like a brother from another mother for me so that’s really nice that I’ve got a friend for life from that.”
Scarlette attended Tombola’s ‘Critter Challenge’ and was taken back to her jungle days with a mystery box game, whilst being hooked to a polygraph machine to test her reaction.
The television personality remained calm at the idea of a spider crawling on her, with only a 1% increase in blood pressure during the challenge.
