A Place In The Sun’s Scarlette Douglas reveals who left her starstruck on Soccer Aid pitch

A Place In The Sun’s Scarlette Douglas has revealed how she’s been totally starstruck by some of the celebrities she’s encountered as she’s prepared for Soccer Aid 2023.

She told OK!: “It’s been a lot of fun, so much fun. It’s been amazing meeting everybody, amazing.

“I was saying how you just turn around and there are these huge stars like Usain Bolt’s just there.”

She also shared how she had joked around with Usain Bolt and explained: “I actually went up to him yesterday and said ‘I’m playing opposite you’ and he was like ‘good luck’ so I was like okay thank you.”

It comes after Scarlette recently ended up in hospital needing urgent medical care after she tore her calf muscle during Soccer Aid practice earlier this year.

The TV presenter, 36, has made history as the first female celebrity from a non-sporting background to take part in SoccerAid.

Since her debilitating injury, Scarlette has undergone hours of physiotherapy in the hope that she will be able to play in the SoccerAid match.

At the time, Scarlette told Express.co.uk: “It’s bad but you know what, I’m fine. I’m still smiling, I’ve got my medication, I’ll be strapped up – I will be on the pitch.”

She added: “Everyone has been brilliant and I will be on the pitch even if it’s 10 minutes, I can touch the ball, pass it, get in goal, I will be there.”

Scarlette also shared a video of her MRI scan process, as she insisted that her injury would not stop her playing at the Soccer Aid match at The Old Trafford on 11 June, 2023.

In the MRI scan post, she wrote: "Remember, this is a minor setback for a major comeback, and trust me when I say no matter what, I will be fit enough to play at least do 5/10 minutes on that Old Trafford Pitch".

Scarlette's latest post, which came earlier this week, saw her making her second trip to a physiotherapy clinic, as she shared a video montage with a voiceover.

Scarlette will play alongside the likes of Danny Dyer, Sir Mo Farah, Tom Hiddleston, and Paddy McGuiness.

The team, which is being coach by Stormzy, Harry Redknapp, David Seaman, Vicky McClure, and Emma Hayes, is playing again the World XI team which includes Tommy Fury, Roberto Carlos, Kem Cetinay, and Usain Bolt.

SoccerAid, which raises money for UNICEF, will air tonight at 6.30pm live on ITV1, ITVX and STV.

Scarlette has taken part in a number of TV shows, including I'm A Celebrity in 2022. While she was on the hit show, her brother claimed that she was at risk of getting "hangry" if she didn't get enough to eat.
