The 46-year-old radio personality previously raised people’s eyebrows after writing on her Twitter page that ‘the breakfast club as you know it is officially over.’
AceShowbiz –Angela Yee is leaving “The Breakfast Club”. Just one day after sharing a cryptic post regarding the show, the radio personality confirmed her departure and announced that she will host her own syndicated radio show.
“This is really exciting,” the 46-year-old told her co-hosts Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy on Wednesday, August 10. “This is something that I’ve been waiting to do for years now, way before the pandemic.”
“I had actually sat down with our big boss … and I was telling her, like, ‘Look, I really wanna have my own show,’ ” she recalled. “You know, I have my podcast ‘Lip Service’ and I was thinking I would be able to get something like a weekend situation… They approached me at iHeart … and told me that they are gonna give me my very own show.”
This arrived after Angela wrote on Twitter, “The breakfast club as you know it is officially over.” In another tweet, she noted that she will still be co-hosting the show “for at least a month.”
Angela, Charlamagne and DJ Envy debuted “The Breakfast Club” in 2010 on New York City’s Power 105.1 as a morning show. iHeartMedia later expanded the program into a weekend version in 2013 before starting to simulcast on the Revolt TV network in the following year.
The program has since been nominated for numerous awards, even being inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2020. Speaking on their induction, Charlamagne said, “One day people will look back and give us respect for how we impacted the culture the past decade.
“I know it’s hard to show love when folks are still active, I get it, I get it,” he went on explaining. “I’m sure when we get a documentary or something the flowers will come but In the meantime.”
