Britain’s Got Talent: Ant McPartlin suffers painful fall
Ant McPartlin, 47, and Declan Donnelly, 47, assured fans they were “ready” to return to the stage on Tuesday night for the second part of the talent show’s semi-finals, with some accommodations.
Following Ant’s brutal fall, the TV duo took to Twitter before their next live show with a dapper snap in matching suits in front of a sparkling union jack flag.
They wrote: “Suited, booted, extra grip requested. Ready for #BGT semi-finals day two.”
Fans were almost as quick-witted as the comedy duo themselves as comments of support, with just a touch of mockery, flooded in.
One fan shared: “Good luck with the stage tonight Ant,” and another added: “I need that clip replaying with the Benny Hill music over it.”
Not one to let the golden opportunity pass, Dec also got his pal a unique gift, sharing in a Twitter clip as he pulled out a gyroscopic mug holder: “If you had of been carrying a hot beverage, it could have been catastrophe. So I got you a little safety so you can carry your tea.”
Dec insisted: “You’ll never spill a drop” as he flung the cup in circles around his body and up in the air.
Ant quickly nabbed his new item exclaiming: “Even I can’t make a mess of this!” before hilariously sending the mug crashing to the floor.
Ant suffered a nasty fall during the opening of Monday’s live show as he and Dec rushed onto the stage between puffs of smoke and sparklers.

The quick moment could almost be missed by casual viewers as Ant scrambled to his feet, but at the end of the evening, Dec ensured no fan would be unaware as he declared it “our favourite part from part one” and incited a close-up playback.
The slow-mo replay saw Ant sliding in, losing his balance as his one foot swung wildly at eye level before landing on his back and leaving everyone on stage in a state of shock.
The moment sparked a wave of support and concern online from fans of the Geordie duo, but Dec soon took to Instagram to reassure them that his partner was in fact okay, with just a few aches.
On their Instagram, Dec explained that Ant was “resting his back” and revealed that he had said the stage seemed a “bit slippy” just moments before seeing Ant’s “legs akimbo”.

Ant added: “It’s a bit sore, like. At first, I think the adrenaline gets you through but now it’s a bit like, ‘Ooh, I need a bit of ice on that’.”
Countless fans have poured in jokes and comments about the moment on social media, with many sarcastically pointing Ant in the direction of workmen’s compensation companies.
On Instagram, one fan joked: “Had an accident at work that wasn’t your fault…” while another added: “Where there’s blame there’s a claim!”
