Greg James missed his Radio 1 breakfast show today as his wife Bella Mackie was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery.
The broadcaster, 37, took to Instagram and said he would not be on the radio as his spouse has to undergo appendicitis surgery.
Taking to his story in the early hours, he shared a post from Bella, 40, where she told fans, “In the morning I have to have surgery for appendicitis and I am terrified.
“If you’ve had this op and want to reassure me, that would be nice (only reassurance nothing else).”
She added, “Today hasn’t been a classic tbh,” in her caption to go with the make-up free selfie from her hospital bed.

In another post Greg confirmed he would not be on the radio but is currently on call in case his other half needs him.
He captioned the photo: “Luckily for her she married an annoyingly upbeat man to keep her company (before I get chucked out). Back on the radio on Monday so I can be on call in the morning.
“Jordan’s gonna cover coz he’s nice [heart emojis].”(sic)

While Jordan North would be the radio DJ’s replacement as he couldn’t make it to the studio, Greg took the opportunity to keep his partner upbeat.
In a cheeky video, he opened his mouth every time the pager beeped at the hospital.
“Tbh, I think Bella might chuck me out before the nurses do,” he mused.
“P.S. I know it’s always mentioned but f*****g hell we’re lucky that so many brilliant people work for the NHS. I’m never not amazed by them. They’ve all been so kind to a very anxious patient today.”
Bella asked Greg to marry her back in February 2018.
They kept their engagement a secret until June that year, and the happy couple tied the knot in September.
She previously revealed that she was married before to a man she met when she was 28 – but was divorced within two years.
Greg’s wife works as a journalist in London and has previously written for VICE and The Guardian.
