Bill Bailey says Sean Lock would be ‘chuffed’ with fundraiser
Bill Bailey has admitted he still goes to text his late friend and fellow comedian Sean Lock as he opened up about the process of grief.
Sean was just 58 when he died from cancer back in 2021.
Over two years on from his death, Bill, 58, admitted he still struggles to come to terms with the fact he’ll never see him again.
He said of the grief he experienced: “The nature of grief means that there are those moments that just they keep happening.
“Those triggers – you never know when they’re going to arrive, and you know never know from what source they’ll come or what the catalyst will be. They can sometimes just ambush.”

The Strictly winner went on to say there had been a “few occasions” he had experienced such feelings about his late friend.
“Sometimes, I see something and think, ‘Oh I should tell Sean’ and I go to text him,” he spilled.
“I see something funny and think that he’d like that. There’s a location, a piece of music, even a taste and it takes me back.”
Speaking with youth bereavement charity Winston’s Wish, he also explained how bereavement had changed the way he wrote material.
“There’s a complex relationship with the creative process because if you go through some traumatic event whether it’s grief or anything else that could have a cauterizing effect on your emotions,” he continued.

Writing during a grieving stage, he added, had been “a hugely beneficial way” to explore such feelings, potentially in a different way talking about them could.
Sean had decided to keep his illness a secret ahead of his death, with very little people knowing.
His agent later announced he had died at home surrounded by his family.
The comedian was married to Anoushka Nara Giltsoff, who he shared three children with.
After learning of Sean’s death at the time, Bill shared a picture of the pair having a laugh together.
Alongside the Twitter post, he wrote: “Some days I still can’t quite believe he’s gone.
“Today is one of those days.Miss you Sean old pal.”
In his memory, Bill and Lee Mack raised over £100,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support by walking 100 miles between Devon and Cornwall.
Most recently, he raised a further £46K for childhood bereavement charity Winston’s Wish.
