Britney Spears’ ex Jason Alexander taken to second jail as he faces more charges

Jason Alexander, Britney Spears’ ex-husband, has been transferred to a second jail amid two further felony charges.

It comes after the 40-year-old, who famously married childhood pal Spears in 2004 in Las Vegas, before it was annulled 55 hours later, was arrested during the pop icon’s recent wedding to Sam Asghari.

Now Alexander has been charged with grand theft and buying/selling stolen property, over an incident that occurred in 2015 in which he is alleged to have stolen a bracelet worth $2,000 (£1,650) from a woman he was renting a room from in Napa County.

A spokesperson for Napa County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to PA News Agency Alexander had been transferred to the county jail on Tuesday, after serving his time in Ventura county.

He was previously convicted of trespassing and battery after attempting to crash Spears’ wedding at her Californian home in June.

PA understands that after having served his sentence, authorities from Napa County requested a hold on his release so that he could be collected by officers – an approximately 10-hour drive.

Alexander’s bail has been set at $20K (£16,500) and he is due to appear in Napa County Superior Court later today.

Henry Wofford, spokesman for Napa County Sheriff’s Office, said the alleged crimes had been committed in 2015, after Alexander rented a room from a woman in American Canyon, in Napa County, stating: ‘She had a room to rent and she was looking for a tenant to rent the room. A friend recommended Mr Alexander.

‘Mr Alexander moved there and within the first month of living there the homeowner realised her 2,000-dollar bracelet was missing from her bedroom.

‘She asked Mr Alexander did he steal the bracelet, he said no and eventually moved out.

‘She contacted him again and Mr Alexander admitted that he did steal her bracelet and he pawned it at a local pawn shop.’

It was added the woman was unsuccessful in retrieving her bracelet from the pawn shop, at which point she contacted the sheriff’s department. However, by the time the report was filed in 2016, Alexander had left the state.

Alexander was previously ordered to serve 128 days in jail in Ventura County after being convicted of the misdemeanour crimes at Spears’ address, after he appeared to film himself crashing her wedding.

He was heard saying on his live-streamed video: ‘She’s my first wife, my only wife. I’m her first husband, I’m here to crash the wedding.’

Despite gaining access to the house, Alexander did not manage to interrupt Spears and Asghari’s wedding and the couple were married later in the day in front of a small handful of guests, including Madonna and Selena Gomez.

He was found not guilty of felony stalking and not guilty of a further misdemeanour vandalism charge.
