Adnan Ghalib says the star was desperate to expand her family, hoping it would be a baby girl.
Britney, now 41, dated the Birmingham-born photographer for over a year after her break-up with Kevin Federline in 2007.
While dating Ghalib she fought Federline for custody of their sons Sean Preston and Jayden James.
In her sensational new book The Woman in Me, Britney reveals her relationship with Ghalib was brought to an abrupt end a few weeks after her conservatorship was signed off by an LA judge in 2009.

Ghalib said: “The one thing she wanted more than anything was to have more children alongside being a mother to the boys. She thought that if we had a kid then it would be a normal family. She felt her mom was not the mother she expected so she wanted to rectify that in her life.
“She liked the idea of raising a daughter in a normal suburban setting.” In her book Britney praises “chivalrous” Ghalib, who “helped me out” and boasts of their “lustful” relationship.
In early 2008, days before her conservatorship started, Spears believed her baby dream came true during a Mexican holiday.

But when a test was negative, Ghalib said: “I could see her heart sink. She wants more children and is desperate to find the right person to settle down with.
“I hope she meets the man, who truly makes her happy.”
The Woman In Me exposes how she had an abortion and messy split from star Justin Timberlake.
In the book Britney reveals that Adderall was her “drug of choice” as it “made me high, yes, but what I found far more appealing was that it gave me a few hours of feeling less depressed”.
Britney’s PR and publishers have declined to comment.
