Do you think you have what it takes to cater for royalty? If so then read on because this job might be right up your street.

The Royal Household are looking for a Premier Sous Chef for King Charles III and Queen Camilla and have advertised the job on LinkedIn.

Their lucky candidate will be based at Buckingham Palace and oversee the operations of the Royal Kitchens. Their role will be to oversee staff lunches and grand banquets.

They will also work strategically with the Head Chef and Royal Chef to revive traditional dishes and encourage new menu ideas. As the role description says, ‘this job is truly like no other’.

If you're looking to apply for the job but you're scratching your head about how to stand out from the crowd, Charlotte Davies, LinkedIn's Career Expert, has shared her tips.

She says: “Spending your days preparing menus for the Royal Family including The King and Queen – and getting paid for it – surely has to be the dream job for many royal enthusiasts. Now, for one person, it will become their reality.

"In this senior role, experience as a professional chef, the ability to have excellent people management skills, delegate effectively and stay organised are must-have skills"

If you’re thinking about putting yourself forward for the role, which is currently open on LinkedIn, make sure you spotlight in your application how, in previously held roles, you’ve been able to adapt to new challenges and showcase examples of working well within a team.

Charlotte's Tips

1. Make the most of the 'About' section on your LinkedIn profile. Recent research revealed that 60% of UK professionals are looking to move jobs in 2023*, so it’s important that candidates use all of the tools at their disposal to stand out from the crowd.

On LinkedIn, tailor the ‘About’ section to highlight any skills and experience you have that match what The Royal Household is looking for.

2. Keep your online profiles royally up-to-scratch . Employers often search for candidates online, so it’s important that your social media presence is updated.

Even if you have limited previous work experience, make sure to update your LinkedIn profile with relevant skills, qualifications and passions that you’d want your prospective employer to see. Equally, don’t overlook your other public social channels either. Make sure there’s nothing there that would make any of the Royals blush!

3. Confidence is key. These are unique roles, with a very high-profile boss. Very few applicants will have had direct experience working with royalty so if this sounds like your dream role, be confident in your abilities and put your best foot forward in the application.

4. Lean on your online community. Many members on LinkedIn have shared a wide variety of experiences when it comes to applying, interviewing and accepting new roles. Reach out to those in your LinkedIn community for their top tips on how to ace the application process; it's likely you’ll receive some brilliant pieces of advice along with some really helpful do’s and don'ts.
