Changing Rooms fans have slammed Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen's extreme makeover as “horrendous” while the homeowners were left speechless.
During Wednesday night’s episode on Channel 4, the legendary interior designer transformed a tiresome-looking abode into a room a fan said resembled the “Moulin Rouge".
The bright orange ceilings were a talking point among the show's viewers with many taking to social media to express how much they loathe the choice of colour.
One person tweeted: “I don’t think #ChangingRooms left the 1990s. I think the designers went into a coma, woke up in 2022, and produced the same terrible designs of 26 years ago. Haven’t seen a single one I like.”
“I love Moulin Rouge and normally love your work… just not this week,” quipped another.
A third asked Laurence if he was a celestial being from outer space. “Are you from another planet completely?” they quizzed.
“That bedroom is hideous!” exclaimed a fourth.
"I would legit burn my house down if Laurence did that to my room,” a fifth person wrote as one other chimed: “That bedroom is horrendous. The red wardrobes. The bedside tables not at the bedside. The weird wall graphics. NOPE.”
It’s clear Laurence’s eccentric flare left a sour taste for many but it was not all bad, some completed the bright open space with one commenting: "That orange ceiling is actually decent, to be fair…”
In the episode, the couple appeared to like their new boudoir and even compared it to an Italian hotel when seeing it for the first time.
This is not the first time Laurence has come under fire for his creative designs. Earlier this month fans were left stunned with some saying that his expert assistant painted a room's walls in "diarrhoea brown".
"What is it with this show and s**t brown paint?? Maybe they had some left over from last week's dirty protest?? #changingrooms," Tweeted another viewer.
"Did Dulux have a lot of extra brown paint to shift or…? #ChangingRooms,” quipped a third. While another tweeted: “That room with that brown is going to look like a diarrhoea apocalypse took place #ChangingRooms."
Another angry viewer wrote: "Deliberately picking colours people don’t like and devaluing their houses with atrocious 80s painting techniques should absolutely finish the career of anyone who dares to call themselves a designer. #ChangingRooms”
The designer also decorated a family’s home using pasta.
Fortunately, the homeowners and their son Heath were over the moon about the new look, which was inspired by Japan.
