Reality TV star Charlotte Dawson has shared a poignant post, urging other parents to "trust your mothers instinct always," after she swiftly acted on her feeling that "something wasn't right" with her baby son Jude.
Charlotte, 31, and her fiancé, Matt Sarsfield rushed their baby to A&E on Thursday Night after he started "wheezing" and the mum shared heartbreaking snaps showing Jude with tubes in his nose.
She described it as a "traumatic 24 hours" but was grateful he was in safe hands at the hospital. Then on Friday, the mum-of-two, who is the daughter of iconic comedian Les Dawson, revealed that her youngest has been diagnosed with "RSV bronchitis."
But now the worried mum has shared an update on her son and revealed she was right to "trust her instinct" after doctors initially thought her son Jude had a cold.
Charlotte shared a candid photo with her 1.3million Instagram followers as she cuddled her baby son who was wrapped in a blanket with medical tubes attached to his face.
She wrote: "Trust your mothers instinct always… I might be absolutely exhausted but I knew something wasn’t right & it wasn’t.
"Our beautiful boy has RSV bronchitis after just saying he had a cold to go home and rest from the doctors."
She continued: "Thankgod we went up to hospital at the right time and the nurses and doctors have been amazing got him straight on oxygen and we will be here until next week, but we are in the right place & in safe hands.
"Thank you for all your messages love you all, just got to focus on him getting better now so scary when they are so little & seeing him with all these tubes on him. Don’t want to let go of him."
According to the NHS: “Bronchiolitis is caused by a viral infection, usually the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). RSV is very common and spreads easily in coughs and sneezes. Almost all children have had it by the time they're 2. In older children and adults, RSV may cause a cough or cold, but in young children it can cause bronchiolitis.”
Charlotte went into more detail on her stories on Friday and explained Jude hadn't been very well recently and visited the doctors on Monday, where they told her he was a bit "chesty" and to keep her eye on him.
Charlotte then said he started "screaming" in the night and she knew something wasn’t right.
After another visit to the doctors they were sent back home but Charlotte said he started "wheezing" and "deteriorating massively" so she took him to the hospital after following her "mother's instinct".
After numerous tests, Charlotte, who is also mum to two-year-old son Noah, was told he has RSV bronchitis and they would be staying in hospital for a few days. She's keen to get him "on the mend".
