Virgin Radio: Chris Evans’ wife in floods of tears over school run
Virgin radio DJ Chris Evans has revealed his wife Natasha Shishmanian was reduced to tears yesterday after realising that “part of her life has died forever”.
The presenter revealed his partner had become particularly emotional over sending their young twins to school for the very first time.
However, Chris went on to teasingly suggest that her tears might have been a bit of an overreaction, considering how the rest of the day went.
Chris, 57, and Natasha, 43, share four children together: 14-year-old Eli, 11-year-old Noah and four-year-old twins Walt and Boo.
The former BBC radio host is also a dad to a daughter named Jade, who is now in her thirties, from a previous relationship with ex-fiancée Alison Ward.

Speaking on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show, the DJ spoke about the aftermath of his youngest children’s first day at school.
“I arrived home as quickly as I could yesterday, for obvious reasons,” he began. “Tash finally waved bye-bye to the twins for her first tree-emptiness experience after 14 and a half years of bringing up the kids.
“She was due to return home at 9:45,” he explained. “That’s how it begins – first twist in the tale.
“Tuesday night saw our first ever all-kids school night (except Jade, their big sister, but she was there vicariously in spirit as always and texted us to let us know how much she was thinking about her half-brothers and half-sisters).”
Chris then went on to talk about how the family often liked to visit popular high street bakery Gail’s.

Speaking about the bakery that was so close to their hearts, he said: “Tash went for the last time with the twins before she dropped them off at school yesterday and she had a cry.
“She went to places she knew she would cry to get the cry out,” he explained.
“But yesterday, instead of returning home at 9:45, she did a double Gail’s – she went back to Gail’s,” he quipped.
“That was a softer landing than she might otherwise have thought was going to happen, which is nice because she was being kind to herself.
He went on to admit: “It genuinely wasn’t an easy morning and we are so blessed to have healthy children – I get that.
“And if you park that – and you shouldn’t park it – but if you just do, then she was really sad because a part of her life had died forever. And another part of her life has been born.
“You know, closure is one thing, and a new beginning is entirely another,” he added.
Chris then recalled rushing home “as quickly as I could” in order to console his wife, only to be left rather bemused.
“I literally run into the house as quickly as I can,” he remembered. “And she is ok; she gives me a big hug; I start to try to engage her in conversation about her emotions…
“And she then says: ‘Oh sorry babe, I can’t talk. I’ve got to go and pick the twins up,’” Chris revealed.
“There was no first day of school! They were back in the house by five past midday as if nothing had happened. They were out of their uniforms by 10 past.”
Natasha then revealed to Chris that they could choose when they wanted their children to do a full day of school, but told him that they would be holding off until January.
“90 minutes – that’s what we’ve been sad about!” Chris added incredulously.
Chris and Natasha married in 2007 after being introduced to each other by Ronan Keating at the 2005 Newport’s All-Star Celebrity Golf Tournament in 2005.
The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with cinch airs weekdays at 6.30am on Virgin Radio.
