Chris Fountain all smiles as he’s seen for first time since suffering mini-stroke

Chris Fountain has been photographed being supported by pal Ryan Thomas as he stepped out for the first time since opening up on suffering a terrifying mini-stroke.

The 35 year old former Coronation Street star, who played the role of Tommy Duckworth in the hit soap opera, was seen looking suave in a black ensemble as he donned a plain shirt underneath a slick form-fitting blazer.

He teamed this with a matching pair of trousers, complete with a black leather belt, and completed the outfit with some black loafers.

Styling his dark blond hair back, he couldn't help but flash his pearly whites as he walked the purple carpet at the 2022 JustGiving Awards at The Camden RoundHouse in London.

After posing for solo shots, Chris was joined by his close friend Ryan, 38, who portrayed the role of Jason Grimshaw on Coronation Street.

Ryan placed a fond arm around Chris' shoulders as he smiled next to his pal at the event. The star looked dapper in a grey checked suit, which came complete with a matching waistcoat, blazer and trousers.

The soap star, whose son was recently rushed to A&E and spent 24 hours there, donned a white shirt and black tie underneath and rounded the look off with some black shoes.

Ryan was quick to support Chris following the news of his mini-stroke, which left the star "speaking like a toddler", as he sent him a message, saying: "I love you so much bro I'll always be by your side good and the bad we're in it together."

He then encouraged his 1.1million Instagram followers to #TellAMate, which is an online movement to show support to your friends.

Chris spoke to the Mirror about the ordeal he went through, explaining how he woke up one morning unable to speak properly. While he could think of the words for different items around his house, such as his television or fridge, he couldn't say them out loud.

After a conversation with his mum, he immediately called 111 who sent an ambulance. Following an assessment, doctors told him that he had a Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA), otherwise known as a mini-stroke, after a blood clot lodged in his brain.

Chris is now working with a speech therapist to retrain his brain after the mini-stroke. He's since got 90 per cent of his speech back, but is still struggling with reading out loud and sometimes stumbles over his words.

After the clot was under control, medics found Chris has a hole in his heart, which was the root cause of the blood clot that triggered the mini-stroke.

He's set to undergo a small surgery to close the hole, which will hopefully prevent any more clots.

Chris is now determined to live his life "to the max" after the ordeal showed him how "fragile life is".
