Chrissy Teigen shared the touching meaning behind her newborn daughter’s name while appearing on Kelly Clarkson’s talk show.
Chrissy, who earlier this month debuted a brand new rusty coloured hair-do, welcomed her daughter Esti into the world in January alongside her husband, John Legend.
Chrissy and the musician also share Luna Simone, six, and Miles Theodore, four. The couple lost their third child Jack, when pregnancy complications meant he would not survive and Chrissy's life was also in danger.
Appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the 44 year old model revealed that their chosen name was initially inspired by an Italian getaway.
“We were on vacation. We got married in Italy and I was looking up at the hotel and I kept seeing the 'Este' of it, and then I was like, "I love the name Este,'" Chrissy, who sported a lacy lilac number, said.
"I was just playing around with it and then we came up with Esti.”
After landing on the name, John, 44, and Chrissy were pleased to discover that Etsi was actually the name of his great-grandmother.
“John, after we named her Esti, learned that it was actually his great-grandmother's name,” she revealed. “I guess maybe it was Esther and then they turned it to Esti.”
Etsi’s middle name, Maxine, is also a subtle nod to his family, as John previously told E! News: “We wanted to already name her middle name Maxine after my grandmother, whose middle name was Maxine. So, it’s a lot of my family in the name.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Chrissy revealed how Luna and Miles are coping with the new addition to the family.
The former The Voice host said: “It’s weird because I thought they would either be very mad at her for just existing or they would want so much attention from me.
“But they actually love her so much and they want so much attention from me. So, it’s both. It has a lot to do with her, obviously, but they still shower her with love, every bath in the sink, they crowd around.”
John broke the news of Esti’s birth back in January when he gushed about the experience on stage, according to People Magazine.
John reportedly told partiers that they had "the little baby this morning" on what he dubbed a "blessed day".
The singer also admitted that while he "didn't get a lot of sleep", he felt "energised" after spending "a lot of time" at the hospital.
