Coleen Nolan admits kids ‘were not sure’ about Tinder boyfriend: ‘If it doesn’t work – I’ll survive alone!’

Loose Women favourite Coleen Nolan admits that her on-off relationship with Tinder boyfriend Michael Jones didn't sit well with her grown-up children.

The 58-year-old telly star dated Michael, 57, for around six months after meeting him on the dating app in 2020. After reuniting and trying again, the relationship eventually "fizzled out" in 2022.

Now they've rekindled their romance and taken it to the next level by moving in together, The Nolans singer has exclusively revealed to OK! that her children – Shane Jr, 34, Jake, 31, and Ciara, 22 – had concerns about her latest love.

"They were super protective of me so they didn’t want me to go back on the dating scene and jump, because they’ve seen me go through things before," she said.

She continued: “The first year I was with Michael, they weren’t sure because, one minute I was all about him and the next I was saying I finished it, so they were confused."

Coleen's two older children – Shane Jr and Jake – are from her marriage to EastEnders actor Shane Richie, who she later said cheated on her and made her feel paranoid. In 2007, she went on to marry musician Ray Fensome, Ciara's father, but they divorced 11 years later.

In the aftermath of her break-up with Michael, Coleen revealed her children made her to go therapy so she could fully embrace and accept a new love.

Addressing their on-again-off-again status during one of their breaks, Coleen revealed she desperately missed Michael and needed to “sort my head out and accept that I deserve to be and can be loved like that”.

And the therapy has worked wonders, she said.

“We always got on," she said. "But now I’m very different and Michael feels more secure, the kids get on great with him. They’re really supportive now, so it’s nice."

Coleen also revealed that ahead of daughter Ciara going traveling with her long-term boyfriend, she has taken a big leap and moved Michael into her Cheshire home.

She said: “I’m staying in the same area, but I’m going to downsize because all of my kids have gone – Ciara, my youngest, is going travelling in January.

"If someone had told me three years ago that I’d find love again I would have laughed hysterically! But I feel so lucky now that it’s happened.

"It feels wonderful to be forging ahead with someone I love by my side. And if it doesn’t work out at some point then I know I can be alone too and still survive."
