Coleen Rooneyis said be “considering a damages claim againstRebekah Vardy".
Following the Wagatha Christie verdict that sawRebekah lose her High Court libel battle, Coleen is now reportedly considering launching her own legal action against the 40 year old.
The Sun has reported that Coleen, 36, is meeting lawyers in the coming days to discuss the possibility of pursuing legal action as a source said: “It’s quite possible that could involve her own damages claim against Becky for misuse of private information and breach of data protection.”
The source continued: “It was a big win for Coleen. She was pleased with the judgment, but not surprised.
“She’s going to take the next few days to reflect before discussing the next steps with her legal team.
“It is quite possible that could involve her own damages claim against Becky for misuse of private information and a breach of data protection laws. It is something that will definitely be considered.
“Coleen will be guided by the legal advice she is given — but after the judge’s remarks it is certainly a real possibility.”
OK! has contacted representatives for Coleen and Rebekah for comment.
The verdict was announced on Friday 29 July by Mrs Justice Karen Steyn following the seven day-long trial took place back in May and after a wait of over eight weeks.
In her ruling, the judge said it was “likely” that Rebekah's agent at the time, Caroline Watt, “undertook the direct act” of passing the information to The Sun, condemned "vile" trolls who sent abuse after Coleen's initial post and labelled Rebekah's evidence "manifestly inconsistent" with other evidence heard by the court.
Addressing key moments and pieces of evidence from the case, the judge also deemed it "likely" that Rebekah's agent"deliberately dropped her phone in the sea"after an order was made for it to be inspected.
A specialist costs lawyer has revealed that Rebekah and Coleen could spend another two years going through the process of having their legal bills assessed after Rebekah lost her libel battle against her fellow footballer’s wife.
The total legal costs of the case are thought to be around £3 million, of which Rebekah will now have to pay the lion’s share.
Jack Ridgway, chairman of the Association of Costs Lawyers, said: “Assuming there is no appeal, the costs process will now begin. As the loser, Mrs Vardy will undoubtedly be required to pay Mrs Rooney’s costs, but these will be subject to a court process called assessment.
“This will start with Mrs Rooney’s lawyers delivering their bill – I would expect that to take at least three months – and Mrs Vardy’s lawyers then no doubt disputing elements of it.”
