Dan Walker, 45, took to Twitter to quash speculation sparked by reports he didn’t speak to his former BBC Breakfast colleagues. The broadcaster announced earlier this year he would be stepping down from his presenting role on BBC Breakfast to join rival broadcaster Channel 5.
But Dan’s exit back in May sparked speculation regarding his relationship with his former co-stars, a line-up which included Sally Nugent and Carol Kirkwood.
Earlier today, Dan took to Twitter to clarify the headlines that announced he had revealed, “The BBC Breakfast co-stars he no longer speaks to after moving to Channel 5.”
Sharing a series of screenshots of similar news stories ran by a number of news outlets, Dan penned: “I wish they’d make their minds up.
Dan continued: “The truth… I still speak to all of them. We are good friends… apart from @carolkirkwood (joking)” he added alongside two laughing emojis.
Earlier this week, Dan showed his great relationship with Carol as he voiced his concern after watching one of her forecasts.
The Channel 5 News presenter took to Twitter to urge Carol to “take care” as the star braved some harsh weather conditions.
On Tuesday, Carol shared some wind gust numbers with her 236,000 followers.
The Scottish weather presenter included a chart that showed wind gusts ranging between 40 all the way up to 79 miles per hour in locations like The Needles and Guernsey.
“Some of the gusts of wind recorded in the last hour @BBCBreakfast xxx,” Carol captioned the post helpfully.
Dan, who used to host BBC Breakfast from 2016 until April this year, urged Carol to proceed with caution.
“You take care out there Carol,” the star commented concernedly.
Back in May, Dan left his co-host, Sally Nugent, rather emotional when he confirmed his leaving date after six years of presenting from the red sofa.
Sally warned viewers, “brace yourself” as Dan got ready to share his announcement.
He began: “You know you keep asking me when I’m going? Well, I can tell you now, officially.”
The pair laughed as Dan looked at his watch and joked: “I’m leaving in five minutes. You can do the rest yourself, can’t you?”
He confirmed: “May 17 is my last day, so two weeks today.”
Sally let out a short gasp and replied: “Ooh, that’s not many shifts left, is it?”
On April 4 of this year, Dan confirmed his exit with a video in which he said: “In the next few weeks I will be leaving BBC Breakfast and moving to 5 News and to Channel 5.
“I’m really excited but this has also been a massive decision for me because I love BBC Breakfast, I love working alongside Sally and I love the team there.
“But Channel 5 came with big ambitions, with big plans and I don’t think opportunities like this come around very often and I can’t wait.
