Ben & Jen of Escape from the Chateau in proposal
Escape to the Chateau stars Angel and Dick Strawbridge moved fans to tears as they posed for photos with two fans, Ben and Jen, before rushing out of frame as Ben went down on one knee.
They shared the update from their iconic Château de la Motte-Husson last week, as they hosted their “biggest event ever”.
After taking their photos, Ben turned to Jen saying: “I just have one more question…” as he pulled out a small box from his pocket and slowly lowered himself to the floor.
In the moment it took for Ben to get down on one knee, a flustered Angel quickly caught on to what was happening, shooed Dick out of frame, and cautioned the fans around them saying: “Hold on! Hold on!” as she rushed to get out of the way.
Jen ultimately said yes, earning a sensational round of applause from the fellow fans surrounding them.
The Strawbridges shared in the caption: “A lovely moment last week at The Chateau! Huge congrats to Ben & Jen on their engagement.”
Fans were overwhelmed with the sweet, candid moment, with many revealing that it had moved them to tears.
One declared: “I’m not crying…you’re crying!” while another joked: “Aw lovely, made my eyes leak…congratulations.”
In another Instagram post, the Channel 4 stars revealed Ben and Jen weren’t the only lucky couple at the chateau that day.

Fans Lou and Lee also got engaged just moments after taking some snaps with Angel, this time on the balcony of stone steps in front of the elegant manor.
The Strawbridges declared: “Love was most definitely in the air when we had the second proposal in the same day! The biggest congrats again to Lou & Lee on their engagement.”
Fans had been waiting well over a year for this sensational event to take place, after the meet and greet was originally postponed after the Strawbridges’ theatre tour last year.
The hosts graciously thanked fans for making it “our biggest event ever”, tallying the most notable moments of the day: “1,000 Chateau hugs, 1,000 cakes, lots of bubbly in tea cups, plenty of smiles, and two wedding proposals.”
