Mamma Mia! Dominic Cooper relives the Abba-inspired film’s beach scene with his real-life girlfriend Gemma Chan while holidaying in Spain
Mamma Mia! star Dominic Cooper seems to have taken some tips from his box-office movie as he was snapped laying all his love on girlfriend Gemma Chan while holidaying in Spain last week.
The 45-year-old actor passionately recreated scenes from the Abba-inspired film with the Crazy Rich Asians actress. The pair, who have been dating since meeting on the set of 2017 thriller Stratton, piled on the affection in the azure waters off the Balearic island of Formentera, with Cooper sweeping Chan into his arms in a carbon-copy of a scene from 2008’s Mamma Mia!
In the film, Cooper’s character Sky serenades lover Sophie, played by American actress Amanda Seyfried, as he cradles her in the ocean.
And art imitated life in that case, too, as Cooper and Seyfried became romantically involved and dated until 2011 before reuniting on screen for the 2018 sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.
An onlooker said Cooper and Chan put on a ‘passionate display’ as they kissed in the ocean before enjoying a picnic on the beach: ‘They looked in love and seemed relaxed and happy. They were kissing and being very affectionate.’
