Eamonn Holmes has said that he doesn't believe that the friendship between Holly Willoughby and Alison Hammond is real and that Holly is "using" her.
The former This Morning presenter, 63, hit out at his former co-star during an interview on GB News with fellow ex-ITV star Dan Wootton, as he shared that he is suspicious of Holly's "sudden" friendship with popular presenter Alison.
He alleged that Holly is "using" Alison and that the pair only became close in the last couple of years, despite having worked together for over a decade.
He said: "This nonsense about Holly Willoughby and Alison Hammond as her best friend and [Holly] was at Alison's birthday party… Alison Hammond goes to Holly Willoughby's select nights out with her friends…
"This wouldn't have happened two years ago. Are you kidding? Alison Hammond has been on the programme 13 years and I'm sure there was very little contact between her and the presenters. People just use other people and it's disgusting."
OK! have contacted representatives for Holly Willoughby and Alison Hammond for comment.
During the bombshell interview, Eamonn further argued that Holly should be axed from the show, as he said: "Holly doesn't know people's names. This is legendary within the production teams, that how distant [she and Schofield] are and how they just don't care.
"Not only should Phillip go, but Holly should follow him out the door. I don't think you'll ever see Holly back on the couch again."
It comes after Holly was reported to be "fighting" to remain on the show, which has been plunged into controversy after Phillip Schofield confessed to having had an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a much younger male colleague, insisting "it is now over".
A source close to Holly told the Mirror: "Holly wants to stay at This Morning as long as she can, and hopes to ride out the scandal.
"Other stars like Stephen Mulhern are being approached to fill in for Phil when she returns. Some are reluctant to go in and face angry viewers.
"Holly is determined to stay put – the only reason she would leave now is if This Morning is axed. She has absolutely no plans to leave."
Following Phillip's confession about his affair, Holly issued a statement saying that she has been left "very hurt" by the discovery that Phillip lied to her after she asked him about the relationship.
In a statement on Instagram, the 42 year old said: “It’s taken time to process yesterday’s news. When reports of this relationship first surfaced, I asked Phil directly if this was true and was told it was not. It’s been very hurtful to now find out that this was a lie.”
