Eamonn Holmes didn’t let his chronic back pain blight the festivities as he summoned up the strength to attend the TRIC Christmas event with his GB News co-star Isabel Webster by his side. The 64-year-old’s persistent problems with walking have been frustrating for him, even preventing him from attending his much-loved mum’s funeral last year.
Meanwhile, just a few months ago, he almost couldn’t accept his TRIC Award for Best Multichannel News Programme at all, due to struggling to get on the stage. The star previously suffered slipped discs in his back and he revealed that the spinal surgery he had last September seems to have set him back even further.
With all the uncertainty about his health, it was unknown whether he’d make it to the Christmas event held by TRIC (The Television and Radio Industries Club). However, the smiling GB News star made a triumphant appearance in a dapper-looking black suit, which he coordinated with a splash of colour thanks to his bright red and purple tie.
Co-star Isabel also opted for a dress in a festive shade of red as she stood beside him at The Londoner hotel in Leicester Square. Plenty of other celebrities were present at the event, including Strictly Come Dancing star Angela Rippon, who was looking elegant in an electric blue trouser suit, and Roman Kemp, the radio star son of Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp.
The lavish entertainment program laid on for the star-studded crowd is expected to include great food and entertainment from comedians, while the day will be rounded off with a Christmas carol singing session from “West End superstars”. Eamonn currently lives in Surrey with his Loose Women star wife Ruth Langsford, and it’s believed he made the journey to London from there to be part of the festivities.

Although he was relying on clutching his walking stick, Eamonn still seemed to be building his confidence back up after enduring the year from hell mobility-wise.
When he returned to GB News last year after several months off, he vented his frustrations that he was still struggling, telling viewers: “Basically, I can’t walk.
“I can do everything above here,” he explained, gesturing towards his waist, “but it’s the legs!”
Following the op, he had another unpleasant accident on the stairs at home, which hugely hindered his recovery too.

“My leg gave way and I fell down 18 stairs,” he winced, adding: “I fell down the spiral staircase [and] smashed my right shoulder.”
Then he teased Isabel, joking that the first thing she did when he returned was “lean on his shoulder”.
She responded that she wouldn’t be making the same mistake twice, exclaiming: “I won’t be doing that again or you’ll be off for another four months!”
Eamonn also suffered a dislocated pelvis in 2021, which twisted his back out of alignment, and prior to that, he’d had double hip replacement surgery in 2016.
Although his health struggles are still ongoing, he looked delighted to be out on the town again as he posed for the cameras with Isabel, leading fans to hope he’s turned a corner.
