EastEnders’ Di Marco family now as they reunite 25 years after leaving the soap

Eastenders fans were treated to a massive dose of nostalgia this week, as the iconic Di Marco family reunited, 25 years on since they last appeared on the soap together.

The much loved family were once a staple of the BBC show back in the 90s and consisted of mother Rosa (Louise Jameson) and her sons Beppe (Michael Greco) and Gianni (Marc Bannerman).

Alongside the main trio, the family also included younger sisters Teresa and Nicky, played by Leila Birth and Carly Hillman.

The famous family remained on the show until 2000, when the stars finally stepped away from the soap, leaving only Beppe and his son Joe to continue until 2002.

But now, over two decades on since last gracing Albert Square, the on screen family reunited in a sweet photo to share a meal together.

Now aged 52, Beppe actor Michael shared the snap on Twitter as he sweetly wrote: “Not seen this lot for 25 years! My EastEnders mum and sisters.”

“Was incredible to catch up [with] them all and go down memory lane Di Marco family.”

Fans at home were loving the reunion, with many lamenting their exit from the show.

“Di Marcos should come back to the Square. It's never been the same,” gushed one fan.

Another posted: “No one has aged!!! And you still beautiful.”

Before a third commented: “Should never of written you out there was some good scope for some good storylines before you left looking great guys.”

Sadly, one notable face missing from the reunion was Gianni actor Marc, with several fans also sad to see that he wasn’t able to attend the impromptu reunion.

“What a great photo Michael – shame Marc wasn't there!” Noted one eagle eyed fan.

The reunion comes just one year on since Michael surprised fans on BBC medical drama Holby City, where he played concerned parent Antony, who found out his son Harry needed heart surgery after a football injury.

Many fans were amazed to see the Walford favourite appear in Holby, with several also noting he hadn’t aged a day even despite his twenty year absence from our screens.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “Hold on is that #BeppediMarco in @BBCHolbyCity?!? Daaaaaamn! He still fiiiiineeee!!!”

A second said: “Is that #BeppediMarco in #HolbyCity tonight? I'd recognise that voice anywhere.”

A third then cheekily asked: “OMG one of my OG crushes from EastEnders is on Holby. Michael Greco where have you been?”

Since leaving the soap, Michael has certainly been busy, as he swapped the small screen for the stage and appeared in a number of theatre productions over the years.

He also appeared on Celebrity Love Island and Soapstar Superstar, before finally embarking on a brand new challenge in 2020, when he became a dad at the age of 50.

Welcoming a son, Gianluca, with his girlfriend Helen Harris, the first few months of the precious little one’s life were certainly not for the faint hearted, as the youngster was born prematurely and weighed just 4.47lbs.

Michael also revealed that his son had suffered from a rare birth defect called Gastroschisis, a condition which means a baby’s bowel protrudes through a hole in their tummy, and needs surgery to be relocated back inside the body.

Cared for by Great Ormond Street hospital, Gianluca underwent surgery to fix the issue, and later spent six weeks in ICU following the procedure, but has since made a full recovery.
