BBC EastEnders' actress Emma Barton, who plays Honey Mitchell in the soap, is set to appear in a magical new role. Emma, 45, can be seen dressed in a sparkling ballgown as she prepares to star in panto this Christmas.
The actress looked stunning in the promotional shot for the stage production of Beauty and the Beast. Dressed in a blue sparkly ballgown complete with glittering blue wand, Emma looked world's away from her EastEnders' character.
She's cast as the lead role of Fairy Bon Bon in Bournemouth Pavilion’s production of Beauty and the Beast for five weeks throughout December and January.
She will be joined by comedian Noel Brodie who will play Louis La Plonk in the family favourite story of Belle, who finds herself imprisoned in an enchanted castle by a prince who has been transformed into a hideous beast by an evil sorceress.
Meanwhile, back on Albert Square, viewers have recently seen Honey attempt to help her ex-husband Billy Mitchell, whom she has just reunited with, avoid being jailed for life for a historic murder he didn't commit.
The Sun reports that Emma will be juggling EastEnders' filming with starring in the panto but may get a two week break.
An insider said: "EastEnders pulls forward with filming for Christmas to get ahead. There is also a two-week filming break, so even if Emma misses a few weeks of filming, it likely won't have an impact on screen."
Emma had to take a short filming break once before, back in 2020 when she appeared as part of the the Strictly Come Dancing live tour.
Her EastEnders castmate James Bye is currently in the running to lift the Glitterball Trophy on the BBC show.
For Movie Week, which took place this weekend, James and dancer partner Amy Dowden paid homage to Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy.
Dressed as frontman Peter Quill, James had an uncanny resemblance to the character’s actor Chris Pratt. Meanwhile, Amy hit the dance floor in green body paint and a black catsuit as she based her look on Zoe Saldana’s Gamora.
The pair performed the Cha Cha Cha to Blue Swede’s Hooked On A Feeling and ended up with 22 points from the judges.
Soon after their performance, James Gunn – who directed the first two Guardians of the Galaxy movies, as well as the upcoming third one – took to Twitter to share his thoughts.
Sharing a clip of their dance, he wrote: “Can’t decide whether I should keep this scene in Vol 3. Let me know what you think below.”
On Sunday night’s result show, host Claudia Winkleman informed James of the tweet, noting that the soap star’s three sons were likely to be thrilled.
Putting his hands in the air in excitement, James replied: “Jimmy Gunn, keep it in lad.”
He then quipped: “Thanks very much Strictly, I’m out of here,” as he pretended to exit the studio.
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
