EastEnders star Jonny Labey found fame playing Paul Coker in the BBC soap – but has since had a bit of a career change.
The actor, 30, played the character on the soap for 106 episodes between 2015 and 2016, playing the role of Les and Pam Coker’s grandson.
His character fell in love with Ben Mitchell, but was later killed off in a homophobic attack, leading the actor to leave his role on the soap for good.
Since then, the actor has been involved in a variety of pursuits, including retraining as a barber.
He’s also branched out into music, and took to social media recently to share a preview of his new song with fans.
In a clip from the video for his song Keeps Me Up, featuring King Khamelion, Jonny can be seen strutting down the street in a cream suit and hat as he teases a “3 year journey which is now all coming your way!”.
He also shared a photo of himself wrapped in a towel at the beach, calling it “Some close call single release art”.
Not only has the actor branched out into music following his departure from Albert Square, he’s also launched his own barber service after training at the London School of Barbering.
Speaking about the new career move, he proudly showed off his training certificate on Instagram, writing: “No idea what prompted this journey initially but after considering it for a while I'm so glad I did."
However, the star hasn’t given up his entertainment industry career since his EastEnders departure.
Jonny also appeared in the 2017 series of Dance Dance Dance on ITV and competed in the X Factor: Celebrity in 2019, where he finished in tenth place.
Outside of his career pursuits, the star recently seemed to confirm a new relationship as he shared photos with dancer and actress Hannah Amin, who has featured in projects like 2019’s Cats alongsideTaylor Swift ,Idris Elba , Dame Judi Dench andJames Corden .
Taking to Instagram at the end of March, Jonny shared pictures from a mini-break as they swaddled themselves in matching cosy dressing gowns.
“How the other half live… we're happy we got robes and a choice of flip flops or slippers!” he wrote in the caption.
Reflecting on his EastEnders departure in 2016, Jonny said: “It wasn't my choice, but I'm a big believer in everything happens for a reason.
“It's sad as I was just getting into it and he's [Paul] just sort of arrived and started to get interesting.
“Like any other job, it's always about the bigger picture and all you can do, is do the part justice.”
