EXCLUSIVE EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Edie Campbell’s model looks are scarred after she is kicked in the face by a horse
Top model Edie Campbell is such a keen equestrian that she once won the Magnolia Cup at Glorious Goodwood. Yet she’s just been given a painful reminder of how dangerous the sport can be.
‘I got kicked in the face and shoulder by a horse last week,’ discloses Edie, 33, the daughter of Old Etonian Roddy Campbell and architect Sophie Hicks. ‘I had to have emergency plastic surgery.’
She shared pictures of her post-operation results. ‘Thanks to my surgeon I escaped with just a cute small scar,’ she says. ‘I had the most swollen and wonky face for a bit.’

Jack gets creepy in Famous Five
Children beware — the BBC’s ‘reinvention’ of Enid Blyton’s The Famous Five features a character inspired by notorious occultist Aleister Crowley, I can reveal.

The plucky adventurers return on Saturday with a ‘modern and exciting’ take on the classic stories. The opening episode features Game Of Thrones star Jack Gleeson as Wentworth, a ruthless antiques dealer who is after a hoard of treasure discovered by the gang. ‘He’s quite sinister and he’s hell-bent on getting what he wants, which is power,’ Gleeson says. ‘Something very important to Wentworth is travelling to different realms in his mind. He’s very spiritual and mystical, sort of like an Aleister Crowley-type figure.’
Magician and occultist Crowley, who died in 1947, was called the ‘wickedest man in the world’ after the wife of one of his disciples blamed her husband’s death on him drinking the blood of a sacrificed cat. Watch out Timmy the dog!
Birthday girl Jade parties like it’s the ’70s
Hedonistic 1970s New York nightclub Studio 54, where Sir Mick Jagger’s ex-wife Bianca was photographed astride a white horse on the dance floor, was transferred to the Cotswolds at the weekend.
Fashion designer Jade Holland Cooper celebrated her 37th birthday with a party inspired by Studio 54
Fashion designer Jade Holland Cooper, whose country label, Holland Cooper, is loved by the Princess of Wales, celebrated her 37th birthday with a party inspired by Studio 54.
White horses were even printed on the walls of the £50 million mansion she shares with her husband, Superdry co-founder Julian Dunkerton, 58, and their two children. The designer was joined by pals including fashionista Victoria Magrath, the Marchioness of Bath aka Emma Weymouth, James Bond actress Naomie Harris and her life coach friend Jade.
Czech out Helena!
Helena Bonham Carter agreed to star in James Hawes’s new World War II film One Life partly because it was set in Hampstead, near her home in North London.

But then she learned that most of the film was to be shot in the Czech Republic. ‘James came along and said, “You’re born to play this — and, it’s up the road”,’ she says at a West End screening.
‘”Very convenient,” I thought. In fact, we ended up filming in Prague. We did do one day in Hampstead.’
With some joking that Omid Scobie couldn’t even lie straight in bed, a more forensic analysis of his investigative and imaginative talents comes from Philip Eade, author of Young Prince Philip: His Turbulent Early Life.
‘[Scobie] doesn’t appear to have spoken to anyone who knows the people he’s claiming to have knowledge about,’ Eade tells Richard Eden at a party they both attended
‘Apart, perhaps, from the Sussexes, [Scobie] doesn’t appear to have spoken to anyone who knows the people he’s claiming to have knowledge about,’ Eade tells me at the party held in Lady Amabel Lindsay’s house in Notting Hill to celebrate the new book Soldiers Don’t Go Mad, by war correspondent Charles Glass.
‘If you look in the acknowledgements [of Scobie’s book], there’s no one who works anywhere close to the Royal Family,’ says Eade. ‘None of his sources are named. Surprise, surprise.’
When Rupert Murdoch was pictured at the weekend jetting off with the woman tipped to be his fifth wife — and eight cases of his own vineyard’s wine — there was speculation about what he might be celebrating.
This might be the answer: I hear the media magnate has just become a great-grandfather. His eldest grandson, James MacLeod, has had a daughter, Oona, with his partner, whose name isn’t known.
James is the eldest son of Prue, Murdoch’s daughter with his first wife, model Patricia Booker.
Rupert, 92, who retired as the boss of News Corp in September, was pictured with retired scientist Elena Zhukova, 66, at an airport for private jets in LA.
