Elon Musk’s daughter has applied to legally change her name, partly because she she wants to sever ties with her father.
The 18-year-old, formerly known as Xavier Alexander Musk, has asked to change her gender recognition from male to female and change her name.
In the court documents, filed at the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles, Musk’s daughter cited the reason for the name change as being: ‘Gender Identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form.’
She is reportedly changing her name to Vivian Jenna Wilson, using her mother’s surname.
Musk, 50, shares his daughter with with his ex-wife Justine Wilson, who he was married to between 2000 and 2008.
The Tesla CEO has seven children, including twins Griffin and (formerly) Xavier, 18, and triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian, 16, with Wilson.
He also has X Æ A-Xii (nicknamed X), two, and Exa Dark Sideræl (nicknamed Y), six months, with singer Grimes.
Tragically, Musk’s first son, Nevada, died at 10 weeks old in 2002 of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).
Musk hasn’t commented on the name change. However, he recently celebrated Father’s Day, tweeting: ‘Happy Father’s Day’ and adding: ‘I love all my kids so much.’
In December, Musk welcomed his second child with girlfriend Grimes, with the pair keeping the birth on the downlow for a few months.
Grimes – real name Claire Elise Boucher – unveiled the newborn’s nickname as Y.
Sharing an update on the little one, the mum-of-two said: ‘She’s a little colicky too.’
Touching on why she decided to keep Exa’s arrival under wraps, she continued: ‘I don’t know. I don’t know what I was thinking.’
Before welcoming Exa, Musk and Grimes had split but then rekindled their romance. However, shortly after announcing the birth of the baby, Grimes revealed they had split again.
The singer wrote: ‘Me and E have broken up *again* since the writing of this article haha, but he’s my best friend and the love of my life, and my life and art are forever dedicated to The Mission now.’
