Ferne McCann stunned fans last month as she announced her engagement to boyfriend Lorri Haines. The proposal came as a surprise for the I’m A Celeb star, who said she is “on Cloud 9” to be marrying her partner.

In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Ferne explained how her daughter does not yet understand that she is getting married, but “nearer the time she’ll get excited”.

She said: “Sunday’s at an age where she doesn’t fully understand.”

But Ferne added: “’I’m sure nearer the time she’ll get excited.

“There’s no date set though, maybe when there is and there’s talk of plans and dresses etc she will.”

Ferne announced the happy news on July 2 in view of her 2.9 million Instagram followers.

She uploaded a picture of herself passionately kissing her new fiancé while putting her ring on full display.

“So happily ever afters do exist. I cannot wait to do forever with you baby,” she wrote in the caption.

During the interview, Ferne admitted she did not expect Lorri to pop the question just a few months after they went public in February.

Asked about the details, Ferne said: “Well I can’t say too much on that because you’ll have to watch my show. But no, I didn’t expect it.

“I’m still on cloud nine from it all and feeling immensely grateful.”

Earlier this month, Ferne paid a heartfelt tribute to her future husband as she thanked him for their conversations, as well as “the well needed silences”.

She took to Instagram to upload a series of pictures and videos of the pair’s sunny hike together.

The couple could be seen smiling for the camera as they made a stop along the way to take a selfie.

In the caption, Ferne reflected on the pace of life and how, at the time, she needed to “slow the pace down”.

The former TOWIE star penned: “The best things in life are free……

“This weekend I needed to simplify life. I needed to slow the pace down & just be.

Ferne continued: “When life gets on top of you or it feels rushed or fractious or stressful, I get outside, go on a big walk & get close to nature!

“When I walk outside I immediately feel less stressed. I instantly feel calm & centered.

“Yessss to the release of the endorphins.”

Addressing her fiancé, Ferne concluded: “Thankyou @lozzahaines for the endless chats as well as the well needed silences.” (sic)
