Devastated Ferne McCann has cut herself off from her friends as she tries to cope with the fallout of the infamous leaked voice notes, sources claim.
Worried pals have told OK! that the former TOWIE star, 32, is taking time for herself and is only speaking to a small inner circle – including her mum Gill and fiancé Lorri Haines – after she was accused of fat-shaming longtime friend Sam Faiers, 31.
“Ferne is still devastated by the whole thing,” they told us. “It’s awful. Friends are worried about her and haven’t heard from her.
"She’s keeping her head down and those close to her are rallying around her and supporting her.”
Last week, Essex Police confirmed that they had launched an investigation into the mystery poster, saying: “We are investigating a report of malicious communication which was made to us in Brentwood on Thursday, 29 September.
“We have spoken to the victim, a woman aged in her 30s, and our enquiries are ongoing.”
The account leaking the notes, LucyMay195, then disappeared, only to resurface under a new name, ladywhistledown195 – a nod to the fictional whistleblower in the hit Netflix series Bridgerton.
Lorri, 30 – who was also targeted by the mystery poster – shared a cryptic post about “jealous haters” as the account returned.
It read: “You can’t change how people feel about you, so don’t try. Just live your life and be happy.
“Sometimes they be jealous of how well you hold your life together and that’s why they can’t stand you.”
Last week, we reported on how the leaked voicenotes had ruined Sam and Ferne’s 20-year friendship, leaving Sam’s sister Billie Shepherd, 32, “feeling caught in the middle”.
And Tina Wilson, relationship expert and founder of Wingman, says Billie could be the key to the warring pals rebuilding their once solid bond.
She told us: “Billie will most likely feel loyalty towards her sister Sam but probably feels stuck in the middle too.
“We know Sam has unfollowed Ferne on social media but Billie hasn’t so far, which could indicate she could act as the peacemaker of the group.”
Tina added: “In the short-term, Sam is probably so shocked and hurt she won’t be interested in hearing what Ferne has to say.
"But hopefully, over time, she might come around – and this could be with a lot of effort and encouragement from her sister."
